Halife Mustafa Katib Çelebi (1609-1657)
First printed Turkish map in the atlas IHANNUMA ("Mirror of the World"). In 1648, Katip Çelebi translated Mercator's Atlas Minor into Ottoman Turkish and reworked his own atlas. After he died in 1657 Ebubekir Bin Behram continued his work, but death interfered again. Finally in 1729 both editions were printed on the first Ottoman press by Ibrahim Müteferrika.
